April earned her name by being born on April 1st or April Fool's day. She finished her championship in September 2003 at the Redwood Empire Kennel Club show under judge Patricia Trotter. She was always handled by her breeder, Kathi Boyd. She gave birth to her one and only litter in January 2004, whelping five boys and three girls. Of the eight, six went to show homes, with four completing their championships. The other two are major-pointed. She was an excellent mother, very attentive to her pups, and to this day, recognizes her son when we come home to visit. She was working on her field training prior to having the litter although never competed in the field. She has excellent bird instinct and feels "the deader, the better."
She is now retired from the ring and field and can usually be found sleeping in the sun or hunting for bread (she loves those carbs!). She still manages to keep her "kids" in line when Sara, Jasper, and Autumn get to playing rough. She is the grande dame and rules the roost.
